A locksmith can help with a lost car key. If you’re stranded and need a key made on the spot, they can do it! Although, not every locksmith company has a technician available to make your key. It may be that you will have to call many companies to find this service. First things first, it would be a great idea to check with the dealership depending on the age of your vehicle and get a price. Then call a locksmith and compare the prices for your vehicle. Most dealership will not make keys for vehicles older than 10 years. When you call for a locksmith to make a key, it is best to have the make, model and year of the vehicle and further, whether it is a key start or a push start. Therfore, you will be able to get a flat price! Also, you will need to let them know if you require a remote or not. Most newer vehicles need remotes keys no matter but for older vehicle you may simply need just an ignition key.
Ignition change and new key
There are many reason why you may need your ignition changed and a new key to fit. First of all, maybe you have purchased the car from auction and it doesn’t come with a key but you know there is, possibly, a key out there. Furthermore, you may have just gotten you car back from it being stolen. Both of these occasions and others would warrant having a new ignition and a new key. As well, it might be advisable to have the locks on all doors changed.
